09/09/13 "this week"

Monday: Went bowling with Hna Chavez, Hna Sharp and Hna Hunter. I won. We then went to contact one of our referencias, Jorge. We set an appt for Saturday.Went to see Marcos and set up a appt for Saturday as well. Lost my CTR ring , searched for it in the dark for about half n hour..didnt find it. Tuesday: Went to district class to sit there for twenty mintues only to find out we didnt have district class.Had a lesson with Alberto, but on the way there this old man and his care taker stopped us and asked us about our church. We gave them a pamphlet and walked away then decided to go back and we gave them the first lesson on a park bench.Jorge and Pablo. Set up a appt for Friday. Then we went to Alberto. After we ran to the Obispos for little super and that was really fun! Except they told me about United States wanting to go to war with Syria...um I hope not. Went back to look for my ring only to find out some random guy sweeps the streets every morning where I lost it. So its gone forever...how in the world will I choose the right now! Some guy stopped us and asked where the wine store was..I was like uhhh did you not notice my lovely plack. Wednesday:Zone class. We got permission to use familysearch during comp study. I love it! I want to go to the temple and do stuff!! Right now! Had once with a family, they just got back from the United states, new york, virgina , etc. so of course they talked to me about it forever! Oh America! She said she studied at the YMCA...so obviously the first question I had to ask her was..Did you dance the YMCA while at the YMCA!? yeah she didnt think it was very funny...But i did!! I lost my church credit card...and I lost one of my gloves...That makes me losing three things this week! Thursday: The week goes downhill from here. We had service at an Hnas house. Well I was cleaning the kitchen and Hermana Chavez with cleaning the big window in the living room. She asked if I wanted to switch her spots and I said nah im alright. All of a sudden I hear this crash. My companion has fallen through the glass table and is bleeding a lot. You know how I feel about blood. I was in a panick. She wasnt. I was probably more in a panic then her. I ran to the neighbors no one was home. I called Presidente and Hna Wright, they were in a meeting. I hurried and called the hermana who lives a few floors up she wasnt home. I called our Bishop and luckily he was home and ran over. He helped us A LOT! I called the zone leaders and got the doctors number and he said to come on over. Bishop took us to the doctors office and they said she´d need stiches. We went and the doctor doctor said she almost cut her tendon. She got four stiches and we had to stay in the pension till today because she was on bed rest.Saturday:Stake party for indepence day of chile..we couldnt go. but a member brought us food from the party! Oh lovley members! So grateful! Today: Woke up, went to Dr.M and got a wheelchair then I pushed my companion 15 blocks to the metro. There wasnt any elevators so I carried the wheel chair up and down stairs. Then I pushed her 15 more blocks and we finally got a taxi to take us to the hospital(because the doctor told us to come back today) We went and they said oh no not here the building in front. then the building in front said oh no not here the building in front second floor. We went finally saw the Doctor who said come back next Monday. So there. Then we took a taxi back to our little sector and we did our shopping for food and now we are here at the cyber. That is that:) Love Hermana Adams

Email from 08/26

Just a little ol Chilean in Chile.

Welp here it goes...Im sorry I just seem to share funny things with you guys, it just that the funny things are abnormal now while the spiritual experiances are normal..entonces for that I send funny things, and hey who said missionary work couldnt be funny! Anywho after I got off the internet last Monday we went and got Churrascos and ya know what I learned....A churrasco isnt a delicious churrasco if its not made by a sketchy hair greasy fat guy in some back alley store...I miss Sotero Del Rio and its ghettoness. Oh yeah after shopping for comida we said Hola to this random lady and she walked by but then said Im confused...I do I know you..and I just always want to say pre-existence my hermano pre-existence.We went to see Neille who is a less active who we walked in her room because she was ill in bed and her wall where plastered with catholic virgens and the pope and what not and I was like what!? Anyway we sang a song and shared some spiritualness because we are missionaries and thats what we do. Her son Gino is 50 something and is sckitzofrenic? Yeah i cant spell english worth nada. Martes: District Class. After we were waiting for our mail bag to recieve our mail and the Elders were bored so what do they do, oh they start to play airbender with the sawdust out front...yup we are mature. Oh Elderes. We had another lesson with Hilda ..my favorite! I showed her my photo album with my family and friends and she loved it. She did find one of my friends very attractive and everytime she saw his picture she was blow a kiss....I wont mention who but I about died of laughter each time. Okay then we went to see Fresia , this old lady who was like oh I am lonely all the time I would love it if you two would come back and visit and talk to me about Jesus etc, we went to visit her and she didnt even remember who we were. She was like what do you want, why are you here etc..um alztimers? I hope? We went by this corner store thats by our house so we always walk by and the owner who is usually quite nice to us was soooo mean to me. Miercoles: This day we were walking and we passed this guy and I though I should give him a pamphlet and then it was to late but then we saw him again and I turned to Hna Chavez and said we need to give him a pamphlet so we began to chase after him but he was so fast! I think he saw us coming after him and walked faster..I dont blame him, two ladies chasing after you with a pamphlet in the air and that crazy look in their eyes like they want to baptize you or something is pretty scary. We walked by this catholic school and this guy stopped us and started to talk to me in English, and I was like whaaaaat doo I doo! What is going on!?  I couldnt even talk back to him in English. He wanted a pamphlet and so I gave him a book of mormon as well. He said you need to come back and talk to me in English so I dont forget how . We left and when we walked back on the other side of the street he yelled Lady! Dont forget to come back! Had an awkward lesson with Melina. Her mom was there watching TV some crazy latino soap opera(with the very attractive latino from Dancing with the Stars, Remember him mom) anyway there was that and then her little four year old was going crazy and her new baby and I was like I cant hear you well enough to understand what you are saying sooo I just played with the four year old... anyway went to other lessons and as always they fell through .Thursday: For lunch we had hot dogs and then we had an once(like little super but its super for chileans) we had hot dogs..I about died. Saw the English Catholic guy today, he was really nice..I see him in white, in water. Walked some more. Viernes: Woke up at six instead of the usual seven thirty because we had interviews with the mission president all the way at the mission home. President and Hna Wright are so great , I love them! They just make you feel awesome! Had lunch with the cutest family ever! They have this little boy named mateo age two and he was crying and came over to me to comfort him haha I was like aww I miss my nephews!  We had a lesson with a less active named Alberto. He is so funny. His wife isnt a miembro but she will be. A helicopter flew by and he stopped talking and began to make shooting sounds with his fingers as a gun then the bomb falling with a bomb at the end and then he laughed....Oh my heavens old people hahaha. We then met a really cute downsyndrom lady who was selling some type of cake thing. Hna Chavez says I need my own TV show ...because apparently I am funny, I think she means crazy. Saturday: Had an appointment with Lilianna at then in the morning, walked all the way to her house and she wasnt there, we called her and said she couldnt do it but she would go to church on sunday. Had lunch with this member who she is trying to find a guy so she likes to talk about all the attractive men on the dating websites from United States and we need to help her with the church dating website because she doesnt know how it works, entonces I have a plan if English Catholic guy isnt married they can be together! Pamela cancelled on us. . again. Went to see the people the obispo wanted us to see, and nada. Domingo:Pamela and Liliana said they were coimng to church but didnt. We had appointments with Melina and Pamela neither of them were home. At lunch I started to laugh and a piece of rice flew out of my mouth...yeah, the mission makes you so awkward. At church a member asked how I was and I started to say good-bien! First time I answered back in English in a while...I blame the English Catholic. And we had the worst datas of my life this week. This week was horrible...entonces it can only get better right? Right! That is all ! I hope you get some joy out of my letter! Love you guys mucho! Love-Hermana Adams

Email 08/19/13

Large letter!!
Wow this past week has been rough. I feel like I am in Europe! We had a total of (Im not even going to tell you the amount because its so sad) lessons. Like really. In my last sector we would have like 21 lessons a week. Here I am in the city and I say Hola to pretty much everything that moves and on the occasion I get a Hola and maybe if its sunny outside a little half smile. Hahaha oh the life of a missionary. Okay it wasnt that bad..but kinda really yeah. My sector is huge, it would probably take us two hours to walk it ( might be a little less but probably not) We live in an apartment where the doorman is a little creepy haha he like (he is very old) he grabs your hand and lays his head on your should ...yeah...he loves us, he has pictures with all the missionaries that have ever lived in the building..etc. A guy above us sings and plays the guitar loudly..we call him our amigo. Sometimes he even sings in English..what? Tuesday: We did more walking, tracting , knocking on doors. No one wants anything from us. This one guy yelled at us, ¨why do you like to bug people¨etc. yeah. BECAUSE WE HAVE YOUR SALVATION THATS WHY! ....No I didnt say that...but I thought it hahaha. Had a lesson with a Less Active, she was really great. Wednesda:Police Officers ride dirt bikes here(Wyatt you should look into that) . Had almuerzo with an investigator and she is really great. She is a university professor and teaching nutrition....her food was oh so yummy. Healthy. She has a dog named cookie. Yes cookie. Oh this one time we were at Lider and this guy had this huge poncho on and I though oh what a weirdy I´ll say Hola...I did and what did he do, His eyes got all big and he gave me a look like I was the weirdy!! Yo! Visited Fm Mateus , they are from Columbia, they are so great! Thursday: District Class, I can do the chilean game better then my companion...I always knew I was latina. We hand out things like crazy. I had it out like its going out of style. What what. My companion literally thinks I am crazy. I tried to blame it on the mission but she doesnt buy it. Um she started to sing a song in English and I was like ahhh no dont sing that hahaha. Friday: Had lunch with a less active and her non member granddaughter. Oh my heavens today was the day for Hilda. Okay Hilda is a member who is very old. She lives by herself and we go do service for her. We go to her house and she comes out the door in this robe type thing ( oh before Hna Chavez says its not my fault if you find any surprises in her house..) We say Hola and she does the whispering sign. Apparently she thinks her neighbors are trying to rob her house. Later we said Hermana we are going to call you so you have our number. We call she gets up to go get the phone and we are like Hermana Hermana (she is a little heard of hearing too) she answers it and says ¨Hola HOLA..(hangs up and walks back to us) Oh it was my daughter.¨ We were dying. We sang a song, I prayed and said amen...she is still in praying position and Hna Chavez yells Amen about three times and then she said oh amen. Oh we really love Hilda. We were walking around once again and somehow we ended up talking like Italianos in espanol for about forever. We are crazy. More contacting.More walking. Saturday: Almuerzo with another family. Um contacted this old lady who had a mustache going on and long nose hairs...mmmm chileans. and everything was fine and dandy and then I start to lose what she is saying and then I begin to pick out words that sound like words in english...not very good words...and my companion face drops and she is all serious and I am over here like umm yeah huh sure right. just trying to understand. The words I was picking out ..you wouldnt even use in the law of chastity lesson!!!! I was like um ..yup okay lady chao ..Anywho, contacts, we would have references and they would end up in other people sectors , people would drop us. Handed out books of mormon.Went with a member to a lesson we had and the investigator wasnt home. Domingo: Meeting with Bishop. Talked in church, then said the closing prayer. Almuerzo con the ward mission leader. Oh my heavens.. this dayk we had a miracle! we had a lesson with Pamela, she was amazing. She was so so so so excited about our message and wants us to come back every night at 8:30....EVERY NIGHT! Her family was there and they were all excited...oh the blessings of the Lord. Anywho...things here in Ñuñoa 1 are alright...its really hard. I try not to get discouraged but saying Hi to people can be a drag when they just give you zombie looks haha. Love you guys a ton!!

"It has happened"

Well this email wont be very long because I didnt write what happened in my agenda this whole week because I was too stressed out about changes, and I changed.I have officially had my first change. Hna Woodmansee, Hna Camacho and I are no longer a companionship. I am now companions with Hna Chaves in Ñuñoa 1. She is from Lima Peru! I am kinda really nervous..I am with her right now and that is why I am on the internet so early today. I am going to miss Hna woodmansee and Hna Camacho soooo much but, the work must go on. I am soooo sad to leave Sotero Del Rio. It was super great there. The people are amazing. We went to visit them yesterday and people were crying. You never know how much you change or impact someones life until you leave them. They meant everything to them. I loved them. Now I am in a new sector with a new companion and new everything. I am scared and nervous but I am not alone. She really seems great. She speaks a little English which will be really great for me, but will be difficult at the start. I know we will struggle but life is full of struggles and difficulties so we can grow. I dont have much to say, but I will send photos! I love you guys and pray for you often. I hope things are well and all the jazz. I love you! Hna Deyoung goes home today and she is bringing something to you guys from me! Be excited! With Love- Hermana Adams!
