April 15th: Did she make it to Chile?

We were so happy to get an email from Mandy.
It was our first sign of life since we talked to her
right as she boarded the plane in Georgia to fly to Chile.

It almost killed us waiting an entire week,
my dad kept saying
"no news, is good news."
I guess he was right.

We're so happy to hear that not only is she alive,
but she seems to be loving life in South America!

Subject: HOLA!
Hola family! como estas! Well this keyboard is terrible so if i have words spelled wrong blame that! welp. I made it! the nine hour flight was terrible..i think i got like an hour of sleep..thats why i look like death in the pictures hermana fisher sent you. Anyway when we landed i had a great experience. four of us hermanas went to the restroom and when we were leaving a lady stopped us and asked if we said prayers for people..and we were like yeah so she began to talk to us about her eyes and how they hurt etc. we told her how we pray and then we prayed for her . well hermana burnett prayed but it was amazing. i know she felt the spirit. It was fun to have that as our first experience in Chile. Well then we went to customs to pay the fine to enter chile, 160 dollars! i had to pay for hna hallenberger because she didnt bring any type of card..nada but she paid me back in cash. Anyway we are in line and i go to step forward and i tripped over hna hallengergers bag on the floor and totally ate it! in front of everyoe! yup sounds like me huh. Then we had to wait in another line to go through immigration. THENi went to get my bags and my carry on wasnt there...the bag that contains my make up and my books...come to find out it was never put on the plane...but they got it to me like two days later so esta bien. We met the president and his wife they are super great! Got my two companions! Hermana Woodmansee from my district and Hermana Camacho she is from argentina. she knows a little english so that is nice. We are so great together! I know the Lord blessed me with them. He knew i needed a good companionship! no a great companionship! We live in Sotero Del Rio.Its a two bedroom house with living room small kitchen and living room. There are six sisters living in the house.. yup six. its packed! Six hermanas and uno bano!  I sleep on a mattresss on the floor..yup.. is nice hahaha. Every night i have to pull it out from under the bunk beds and every morning stuff it back under..i feel like a orphan haha just kidding. We had our first lunch with a meimbro .I couldnt understand her! It was frustrating...still is frustrating. Anywho she gave us soup and it had the weirdest texture pero it was alright . after i was like phew i made it i ate it all(we have to because we are misionaries) THEN she  sets down another whole plate of food right in front of me! It was chicken and rice and veggies! A lot of it! i about died! I have eaten so many things hear that i would never have eaten at home..yup. I have eaten shrimp(tell wyatt it was gross) um tomatos plain..that was the worst. parts of chicken that look sketchy..fat on meat ...gross. BUT i put on a smile and choke it down haha.We have eaten with a member at lunch everyday since being here. They are the sweetest people here. like for reals. i love them. They are loud , talk very fast(but some people try to talk slower for me and hna woodmansee) they are just so loving. I have probably kissed more people in this past week then in my entire life...yup.everytime you met someone you hug em and kiss em on the cheek! Except not the guys! We went to a lesson and there were two women and one guy and i hugged and kissed the    two ladies then the guy came at me and i forgot and by the time i remembered it was too late and i didnt know spanish to say ahh nooo but yes he kissed me on the check...I ABOUT DIED! it was baaad hahahaha we were at lunch with the ward misionleader and his wife and hna camacho told them the story , i had no clue she did because i dont know spanish but at the end the ward leader was like hermana adams and came at me with his arms wide open for a hug and i was oh and went to hug him and was like wait no!! they all laughed at me! whatelse...oh that lady the first day of lunch read about thirty poems in spanish to us the she read us a play she wrote about the gospel..it was really long for someone who doesnt understand english..yeah... Chileans love and when i say love i mean LOVE TO TALK . They will talk your ear off. The Lord sent me to the right place. There are so many stray dogs on the road which means (dad will love this) poop EVERYWHERE in the street.Like seriously.you have to watched where you are walking constantly. I cried so muh the first day and night... i was like what am I doing here...i cant understand anyone , i live i a shack,  i miss my family. etc but i prayed and I know my father in heaven needs me here. I love it here now. I couldnt imagine going home now! I had to get up in church and itroduce my self and share my testimony i espanol. yup it was short and i was dying pero esta bien.I made them laugh which is good sign haha...well either they were laughing with me or at me...either way i made them laugh! haha . We had a lesson..an amazing lesson. It is a family who are less active. the mom served a mission and all that. they dont go to church at all now. It was kinda a rough start but we sang a hymn and the dauhter estefanie began to cry..she said it reminded her of when she was in yw´s .hna camacho asked what part does Jesus Christ play i your life.My heart began to pound..no joke i seriously thought it was going to explode out of my chest ..i needed to share my testimony about my Savior and Best friend Jesus Christ. I  shared my testimony and i instantly began to cry because I was so overcomed with the spirit. I love my Savior and your Savior Jesus Christ. He is always there for me when times are rough and when times are great . He is my best friend, he is my beloved brother. I know he lives. I konw that family needed to hear about their Savior. The Spirit testified it to me. Mom , dad i hope you take that calling. The Lord called you to it for a reason. Not because they were looking for a family and you are first on the list but because the Lord needs you. He called you speifically to that calling. Its hard and maybe scary and stressful but The Savior did hard scary and terrifying things...He did them because He loves us and because the Father asked it of Him. You have been asked now you must act. Anyway there is my spiritual rant for the moment. Its hard being here not knowing spanish bery well, not being able to communicate all that i want to say and all that i feel. I get very frustrated with myself. I pray for the gift of tongues ona regular basis. Thanks for praying for me often I can fel your prayers . They really help a ton!I will try to send pictures next week! Tell Grandpa Dennis not to worry..they have top ramon here in Chile...if only i could read the flavors haha just kidding. I dont sleep with a fan anymore..i atually slep with earplugs..weird huh.hahaha. I have gotten sick twice..but i workthrough it. Its the Lords timenot mine. Oh one day we were tracking and we went toall these houses they didnt answere when we yelled ALO(peolpe havegates around their houses so you cant knock you yell ALO ) but! they didnt anwer or the address we had was a fake. we finally get to a house and the person i home and lets in! we were so excited! Come to find out its THEE one lady whose ouse the bishop told us not to visit because she was telling eldersto do bad things, they wouldnt but shee spread itaround that they did. etc. yeah we hightailed it out of there! Its hard having appointments fall through..I didnt think it would make me sooo sad but it does. The cool thing though is that when it hapens a few miutes later we find someone new...the Lord truely blesses us for our hard work. Missions are amazing. I am grateful to be on one. They are very hard dont get me wrong but worth it. Oh i tripped i frontof a mebers house...and in front of the memeber yup fel right on my bum. I "bought" her house. When you trip or fall here i south america they say you bought the ground haha..I have been buying a lot of ground lately too bad it ait farm ground haha. <I get whistled at on a daily basis..um we hang our clothes out to dry outside BUT we might be getting a dryer tomorrow! HAPPY DAY! I love you all so much! The Lord truely has blessed me with an amazing family! I cant wait to hear what ashley is having! Ihope it is a girl but...ithink it will be a boy..dont beat me ash!!! haha! Please continue to pray for me but for all the misioaries in the field...the girt of tongues would e nice haha Love you all so much! talkto you  next monday! Leie good job on your test!
